» Full Dark, No Stars - Stephen King's new novella questions mankind's ability to trust others.

» The Top 30 Albums of 2010 - Fashionably, fabulously late, our favorite music (and believe me, there was a LOT) of 2010, the year that some have called the best year for music ever. And only some of those fools work here. Plenty of usual suspects, lots of ties and a few surprises that I won't spoil, including our unexpected #1.

» Live: Surfer Blood/The Drums at Lincoln Hall, Chicago, IL - Remember when Weezer used to put together records that you could sing along to and rock out to? That's what Surfer Blood's show was like!

Imagine Jon Spencer Blues Explosion or Boss Hog playing with members of Elastica in 1996 or so. That's about what Project K puts on the table maybe with a little Frank Black thrown in for good measure. A song that sounds like yet another cover of Afternoon Delight (the song Black Jack), a little pop bounce, a few off beat surf guitar licks, a girl playing the bass keeping the time behind those guitar licks, some rock and roll/post-punk drumming and a guy and girl singing, that's about it. This being a good concoction for a show where people move to the beat, not too fast, not too slow.

Project K is a three piece based in Echo Park. They are working on another CD and getting ready to tour the U.S. again. It seems as though they are counting on the name their label has made for itself to get them by or in, but I don't think they need it. All they really need is a better name or at least an album cover that doesn't make a person looking at it think of a Kellogg's cereal logo. Besides these few minor problems Project K may be on their way to being something.
