» The Top 30 Albums of 2010 - Fashionably, fabulously late, our favorite music (and believe me, there was a LOT) of 2010, the year that some have called the best year for music ever. And only some of those fools work here. Plenty of usual suspects, lots of ties and a few surprises that I won't spoil, including our unexpected #1.

Time doesn't really seem to be much of a factor for Aveo. They're been together for a little over a year and they made their debut album, Bridge to the Northern Lights, in a week. And it's pretty good. Aveo makes pop music. Good, melodic pop music. They're not groundbreaking or anything, they just make good pop music. And I'm fine with that. Better than fine, really.

William Wilson has a good voice. And a front man with a good voice usually helps. It really shines in the title track, and on "Laughter Leaves You," probably my favorite on the album. Other standout songs are "Neverhome" and "Higherness."

You know the feeling you get sometimes, waking after a late night that was really good? When you're in one of those sleepy moods that is kind of happy, kind of smiley, too? Aveo makes that kind of music. For when you're not really listening to the lyrics or anything, just kind of going along with the mood of the music, except not in any sort of background music sense. Bridge to the Northern Lights is more smiley than sleepy, but it's not harsh. It's as mellow as you want after you just woke up, but just upbeat enough for the day after a good night.
