» Full Dark, No Stars - Stephen King's new novella questions mankind's ability to trust others.

» The Top 30 Albums of 2010 - Fashionably, fabulously late, our favorite music (and believe me, there was a LOT) of 2010, the year that some have called the best year for music ever. And only some of those fools work here. Plenty of usual suspects, lots of ties and a few surprises that I won't spoil, including our unexpected #1.

» Live: Surfer Blood/The Drums at Lincoln Hall, Chicago, IL - Remember when Weezer used to put together records that you could sing along to and rock out to? That's what Surfer Blood's show was like!

Even though it feels like I've been using the adjective 'beautiful' a bit to many times in these pages I just have to use it one more time because Seamonster1 from Huskvarna in Sweden IS beautiful. But Beautiful is not the only adjective that comes to mind. Spacey, Dreamy, Atmospheric and wonderful works alright as well. Usually I would find most of these adjectives a bit pretentious and silly but they really do a good job when it comes to describing this CD, and I have a feeling that this is going to be quite a pretentious review anyway so I really don't care about using them. I could compare Seamonster1 to Mogwai, and that would be a legitimate comparison, but Mogwai is much more of a rock band than Seamonster1 is. Seamonster1 moves in much more subtle and ambient territories. Unfortunately I received this CD when it was Summer and really hot outside, and that's just the wrong kind of climate for this album. This is Autumn-music. Its Winter-music and its most definitely night-music. They manage to sound very dark and cold but at the same time they deliver a feeling of hopefulness and joy. Its an interesting contrast. If it weren't for the fact that I live in the central parts of Stockholm and the city lights kills all the stars in the sky I would go out and watch the stars with this CD in my Walkman. I think the stars shine brighter in Huskvarna though.
