» The Top 30 Albums of 2010 - Fashionably, fabulously late, our favorite music (and believe me, there was a LOT) of 2010, the year that some have called the best year for music ever. And only some of those fools work here. Plenty of usual suspects, lots of ties and a few surprises that I won't spoil, including our unexpected #1.

One Thousand Reasons to Stay…One Reason to Leave
Endearing Records

Rating: NR/10 ?

October 1, 2004
One Thousand Reasons to Stay…One Reason to Leave is the debut full length release from the Canadian female-fronted pop group Paper Moon, which is three-fourths ex-B'ehl members plus an ex-Electrosonics and a Bossanova member.

Every song on One Thousand Reasons to Stay…One Reason to Leave, sounds like it was deleted off the 10 Things I Hate About You soundtrack. Though they've opened for the Apples in Stereo, it would have been more appropriate had they opened for Avril Lavinge, with One Thousand Reasons to Stay…One Reason to Leave's Letters to Cleo-meets-the-Cardigans sound.

Paper Moon's press sheet explains that the band was influenced a lot by new-wave, a fact I find pretty surprising, since the sole indicator is that the band utilizes a keyboard pretty often. But hey, you never know.

If you're into bands like the Cardigans, Letters to Cleo, or whatever hit-radio station you have in your town, you'll probably enjoy One Thousand Reasons to Stay…One Reason to Leave, long and often awkward song titles ("Mercury is clearly opposing Neptune", "The History of Punctuation", "Your Thesaurus Won't Help You Now") and all.
