» The Top 30 Albums of 2010 - Fashionably, fabulously late, our favorite music (and believe me, there was a LOT) of 2010, the year that some have called the best year for music ever. And only some of those fools work here. Plenty of usual suspects, lots of ties and a few surprises that I won't spoil, including our unexpected #1.

Produced as a sister record to The Model EP released on the Iodine Recordings label, The Silhouette hits hard and fast and feels right at home under the Revelation flag. Garrison, hailing from both Boston and New York, are good examples of modern punk rock. They're very demanding as well as commanding. The Silhouette opens with "Come On Die Young (No Seriously)" - an order as well as an anthem, these guys play it loud and seem to mean it, and it doesn't stop there. "Everything You Want" is an example of the band's beliefs. They may be a bit negative, but certainly based in reality. These guys know it's better to experience things for yourself in the here and now and not daydream about what could be. It sounds like a dare when they put it into their own words, "You can't say a single thing about the damaged state I'm inů" They're just living in the real world, which is pretty refreshing.

Commenting on the state of television (more specifically, Reality Television) "We Know our Demographic" is written from the producer's point of view - and sounds just as shallow as it should. It makes me hope the current state of programming takes a que from the opening track and dies young. This song says they're keeping the camera running while we're praying for your suicide and that is just the way it seems. When will too much be enough? I don't care to see which celebrities will eat a plate full of bugs and dead things. Who cares? Your 15 minutes are up Coolio, please exit stage left, or better yet, "pull the trigger quick and stop wasting my time".

The 5 tracks on The Silhouette are great and have made me seek out the twin The Model, because I want more. The studio has tried to capture the energy and enthusiasm of this band, but I feel the only justice will be to see these guys play live and see just who is next on Garrison's list.
