» Full Dark, No Stars - Stephen King's new novella questions mankind's ability to trust others.

» The Top 30 Albums of 2010 - Fashionably, fabulously late, our favorite music (and believe me, there was a LOT) of 2010, the year that some have called the best year for music ever. And only some of those fools work here. Plenty of usual suspects, lots of ties and a few surprises that I won't spoil, including our unexpected #1.

» Live: Surfer Blood/The Drums at Lincoln Hall, Chicago, IL - Remember when Weezer used to put together records that you could sing along to and rock out to? That's what Surfer Blood's show was like!

What's Happening Here?
SUNSEASKY Productions

Rating: NR/10 ?

October 1, 2004
This is better than the majority of SUNSEASKY stuff that seems to be making its way onto the streets these days. It's obvious a lot of thought was put into these Jawbox-esque, Texas Is the Reason-ish (both terms copyright LAS 2000) because a few of these songs rock pretty hard and the vocals are well recorded with the harmonies pretty much always dead on. The only bad thing I can say about this disc is that the font they've chosen for all text on the disc is nearly unintelligible, I'm really not even sure if I got the name of the album right….because it looks like the album is called "shasdjfakl Fhao toowa." I knew this was going to be a good SUNSEASKY release because you can go by the SUNSEASKY rule of thumb. The more money spent on packaging indicates the confidence that said record company has in the particular artist. Proudentall seem to have found a comfortable song writing niche that serves them well, the next thing to do is to challenge themselves to take it to the next level, where ever and whatever that is. Oh and did I mention there are strings on this record? Hell yeah.
