» The Top 30 Albums of 2010 - Fashionably, fabulously late, our favorite music (and believe me, there was a LOT) of 2010, the year that some have called the best year for music ever. And only some of those fools work here. Plenty of usual suspects, lots of ties and a few surprises that I won't spoil, including our unexpected #1.

Upon first popping this CD into the stereo, I was ready to dismiss it entirely before the first song had even finished. I just assumed it was more of the same cookie-cutter emo-pop garbage (see December's January) that all of us, I'm sure, are all too familiar with. But lo and behold, I actually don't abhor this album. Oh don't get me wrong, this is by no means good music, but it's not horrible either. Campground Effect wisely chooses to inject their tired brand of emo-pop with some semblance of creativity, elevating them from the crap-status of their countless peers to the lofty heights of mediocrity. That's about the best that a band of this genre could ever hope to achieve.
