» The Top 30 Albums of 2010 - Fashionably, fabulously late, our favorite music (and believe me, there was a LOT) of 2010, the year that some have called the best year for music ever. And only some of those fools work here. Plenty of usual suspects, lots of ties and a few surprises that I won't spoil, including our unexpected #1.

Think of how great it would have been if the Pixies had stayed together and had a young Johnny Rotten along with The Jesus Lizard's David Yow joining Black Francis on vocals. Well that sort of thing has finally happened, sort of.

The Cardiff, Wales trio known as McLusky have tapped into the brilliantly quirky guitar hooks of Joey Santiago and the vocal stylings of Francis, Lydon, and Yow to create a gritty/catchy post punk brew that would make Bob Mould proud. Recorded by Big Black Shellac-er, Steve Albini, McLusky's second full length McLusky Do Dallas captures the spirit and energy of a band who's hunger is finally being satisfied.

With slashing punk rockers stacked one on top of the other McLusky Do Dallas is a venomous album driven by spit fire vocals and grinding dissonant guitars that recall the post-punk days of yore. McLusky flat out fuckin' rock. Recommended to own it if you like the Pixies, Les Savy Fav, Sex Pistols, Liars, The Jesus Lizard or similar.
