MUSIC

» Nirvana: MTV Unplugged in New York - Sporting a light beard and clad in torn jeans, a fuzzy green sweater, and t-shirt, Kurt Cobain gave little indication during the performance that made Unplugged a sensation that he would be dead a few months later. CINEMA

» Runnin' Down a Dream - Recently debuted at the New York Film Festival and now available on DVD, director Peter Bogdanovich's rockumentary for the Sundance Channel is a relatively benign artist portrait with a reverent fixation on Tom Petty's aura that is saved by more than enough great music.

CINEMA

» The War - Ken Burns's latest documentary begins with the intriguing premise that there are no "good" wars, as the Second World War has often been labeled, but that there are, indeed, "just" wars.
